Woodchester Mansion is an unfinished Gothic Revival country house in Nympsfield, Gloucestershire, designed by architect Benjamin Bucknall and begun in 1870. Built on the site of the earlier Spring Park house, which had been demolished after William Leigh purchased the estate in 1854, the mansion was abandoned mid-construction and has remained frozen in that peculiar state since the mid-1870s. The building appears externally complete, yet vast sections of its interior—floors, plaster, and entire rooms—were never finished. A Grade I listed building, it has gained scientific significance as a long-term study site for approximately 200 greater horseshoe bats that inhabit its attic, a population continuously monitored since the mid-1950s.
