Worker and Kolkhoz Woman is a colossal stainless steel monument depicting two dynamic figures—a worker and a kolkhoz woman—raising a hammer and sickle above their heads to form the Soviet state symbol. Designed by architect Boris Iofan and sculpted by Vera Mukhina, the work stands approximately 24.5 metres high and was originally created for the 1937 Paris World's Fair before being relocated to Moscow. The sculpture exemplifies socialist realism rendered in an Art Deco aesthetic, merging modernist geometric dynamism with propagandistic imagery. Now located in the Ostankinsky District, it stands as a federal cultural heritage site and remains one of the most iconic examples of Constructivist monumental art from the Soviet era.
