Xanten Cathedral, officially dedicated to St. Victor, stands in the historic Rhine town of Xanten in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Despite its cathedral designation, it has never served as a bishop's seat, functioning instead as a parish and provost church. The Gothic structure, designed by architect Carl Cuno, is the largest cathedral between Cologne and the North Sea. In 1936, Pope Pius XI elevated it to the status of a minor basilica, recognizing its architectural and religious significance. Today it remains an important architectural heritage monument in the region.
