Acton Memorial Library stands at 486 Main Street in Acton, Massachusetts, a Richardsonian Romanesque structure erected in 1890 to commemorate local Civil War veterans. William Allan Wilde, a native son, Sunday school publisher, and state legislator, funded the building's construction as a memorial to those who served. The Boston architectural firm Hartwell and Richardson designed the historic library, with contractor Charles H. Dodge overseeing its construction. Substantial additions followed in 1967 and 1996, expanding its capacity for the community. Today it serves as a participating institution in the Minuteman Library Network and remains a contributing property within the Acton Centre Historic District.
