Located in Munich's Schwabing-Freimann borough, the Allianz Arena is a 70,000-seat football stadium designed by the Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron in the high-tech style. Completed in time for Bayern Munich's move from the Olympic Stadium in 2005, it is most distinctive for its inflated ETFE plastic exterior panels—the world's first stadium with a full colour-changing facade. As Germany's second-largest stadium, it has hosted major competitions including the 2012 Champions League Final and UEFA Euro 2024 matches, and notably staged the first regular-season NFL game played in Germany in 2022. The stadium's naming rights are held by the financial services company Allianz, though UEFA and FIFA competitions require it to be called Football Arena Munich due to sponsorship restrictions. Since 2012, the Bayern Munich museum has occupied a space within the venue.
