The Amalienburg is an elaborate Rococo hunting lodge set within the grounds of Nymphenburg Palace Park in Munich. Designed by François de Cuvilliés and built between 1734 and 1739, it was commissioned for Elector Karl Albrecht—who would later become Holy Roman Emperor Charles VII—and his wife, Maria Amalia of Austria. Now recognized as an architectural heritage monument in Bavaria, the maison de plaisance exemplifies the ornate elegance characteristic of eighteenth-century Rococo design.
