Moritzburg Castle stands as a Baroque palace in Moritzburg, Saxony, approximately 13 kilometres northwest of Dresden. Originally constructed as a hunting lodge for Duke Moritz of Saxony between 1542 and 1546, the structure was later transformed into its present palatial form by architect Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann. The castle's distinctive design features four round towers and rests on a symmetrical artificial island, commanding the surrounding woodlands and lakes that historically served as prime hunting grounds for Saxony's electors and kings. Now a museum and heritage monument, the castle exemplifies the grandeur of Baroque architecture in the region.
