The Anson O. Reynolds House, a 2½-story Victorian dwelling erected in 1890 in Des Moines, Iowa, exemplifies the ornamental residential architecture of the late nineteenth century. Its design features a hipped roof with a gablet, multiple gables, sunburst patterns, reeded panels, fishscale shingles, and decorative bargeboards. The property occupies one of ten plats originally owned by Drake University, and its construction reflects the University's pioneering land-financing strategies that shaped development around the campus. The house, acquired by the Reynolds family in 1888 and retained through at least 1925, was recognized for its historical significance when listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
