The Mary A. and Caleb D. Scott House is a Victorian dwelling built in 1889 in Des Moines, Iowa. This 2½-story residence displays characteristic period detailing including a hipped roof with gablets, multiple gables, reeded panels along the cornice and base, and a shed-roofed porch ornamented with brackets, turned columns, and an open grill. Located on one of ten plats formerly owned by Drake University, the house gained historical significance through its connection to the University's innovative financing methods, which shaped settlement patterns in the surrounding area. Mary A. Scott purchased the property in 1888 and constructed the house the following year, living there with her husband Caleb D. Scott, a streetcar conductor, and James L. Scott, a retiree, until 1899. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
