The Arena das Dunas is a football stadium in Natal, Brazil, designed by sports architect Christopher Lee of Populous and completed in 2014. Built on the site of the demolished Machadão stadium, it features a permanent capacity of 31,375 spectators, though it was temporarily expanded to 42,000 seats for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which it hosted. Located along the BR-101 highway on Senador Salgado Filho Avenue, the stadium is part of a larger urban development plan that includes a shopping centre, hotels, and an artificial lake. The project received high praise from FIFA inspectors.
