Black Rock Harbor Light, also known as Fayerweather Island Light, stands on the south end of Fayerweather Island in Bridgeport, Connecticut, marking the entrance to Black Rock Harbor. The current stone structure, built in 1823 from fieldstone, brownstone, and granite, rises 41 meters and replaced a wooden tower destroyed by storm in 1821. Originally constructed by Abisha Woodward under government contract—with the first lighthouse operational by 1808—the beacon served as an active navigational aid until 1933, when offshore automatic lights took over its duties. The City of Bridgeport received the tower in 1934. Restoration efforts in the 1980s and 1990s revived the lighthouse, and it was relit as a non-navigational aid in 2000. Today it is a contributing property to Bridgeport's Seaside Park historic district.
