Broad Margin, a single-family home in Greenville, South Carolina, was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1954 for Gabrielle and Charlcey Austin by builder Harold T. Newton. One of only two Wright-designed buildings in South Carolina, it exemplifies the architect's integration of structure with landscape, built into the slope of its 2-acre site. The house features 12-inch-thick concrete walls, polished red concrete floors embedded with copper tubes for radiant heating, and extensive use of cypress wood throughout, including custom cypress furniture, doors, and window frames crafted on-site with solid brass hardware. Wright signed his name on a block embedded into the home, one of few instances of this personal signature in his residential work. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, the house was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1988.
