On the south side of Collinsville, Illinois, stands the Brooks Catsup Bottle Water Tower, a 70-foot-tall novelty structure mounted on a 100-foot stand that holds 100,000 gallons of water—enough capacity to theoretically contain 640,000 bottles of catsup. Built as a prime example of mid-twentieth-century novelty architecture, this roadside attraction was trademarked "The World's Largest Catsup Bottle" and serves as a distinctive regional landmark. Its combination of functional water tower and outsized advertising object earned it a listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
