The Calumet Hotel anchors the historic downtown district of Pipestone, Minnesota, as a three-story Richardsonian Romanesque structure distinguished by its distinctive light pink jasper quartzite exterior—a striking contrast to the red Sioux quartzite that predominates in the surrounding architecture. Built to replace an earlier three-story hotel destroyed by fire in 1886, the building represents both the town's recovery and its architectural character. The hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
