Chateau Pacheteau, a four-story stone residence in Calistoga, California, was built in 1906 for Jacques Pacheteau in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. Measuring 35 by 80 feet and oriented northward, the house is distinguished by its unusual defensive stepped false front façade, crowned with a crenellated parapet of crenels and merlons that repeats above a stone portico, obscuring the wood shake gable roof behind. Constructed by carpenter W.A. Harrison of St. Helena and masons Bennasini & Maggetta, the residence evokes stone church architecture. The property also includes a contributing two-story stone carriage house, designed by architect William Corlett and likewise built in 1906, featuring a central cupola. Chateau Pacheteau was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.
