The Carrera Theater was a classical Greek-style opera house built in Guatemala City in 1852 by President Rafael Carrera y Turcios, occupying a prominent place in the Old Central Square. Following the Liberal Reform of 1871, it became known as the Colón Theater and later the National Theater. The building underwent renovation during Manuel Lisandro Barillas Bercián's presidency to commemorate the fourth centennial of the Discovery of America. Severely damaged by earthquakes in 1917–18, the structure was demolished in 1923, leaving only its historical legacy in Guatemala's architectural record.
