Cedar Rock State Park, located on the Wapsipinicon River near Quasqueton in Buchanan County, Iowa, preserves the Lowell Walter Residence, a masterwork by Frank Lloyd Wright completed in 1950. Designed in Wright's distinctive Usonian style, the house exemplifies modern architecture and ranks among the architect's most complete signature designs. Wright's influence extends throughout every element of the home—he designed the furniture, selected the draperies, and chose the accessories, creating a fully integrated artistic vision. Following Lowell Walter's death in 1981, the residence was donated to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and opened to the public as a state park museum listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
