The Centre City Building, located at 36–44 South Main Street in downtown Dayton, Ohio, is a Chicago School structure designed by Charles Herby and completed in 1904 at a cost of $305,000 by the F.A. Requarth Co. Originally fourteen stories tall, it served as headquarters for the Church of the United Brethren in Christ and was Dayton's first skyscraper, remaining the city's tallest building until 1931. A seven-story tower was added in 1924, topped by a chapel and bringing the total height to twenty-one stories. Beyond its ecclesiastical function, the building also housed the United Brethren Publishing House. The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. After its sale in 1975 and subsequent vacancy, the building was purchased in 2017 by Centre City Partners LP with plans for a $46 million renovation incorporating residential apartments, offices, and retail spaces, though as of late 2024 the project remained incomplete.
