The Centre Georges Pompidou is a museum and cultural center located in the Beaubourg area of Paris's 4th arrondissement, designed by Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano in the high-tech architectural style. Commissioned by President Georges Pompidou and officially opened on 31 January 1977 by President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, the 42-meter-tall complex houses the Bibliothèque publique d'information, a major public library, and the Musée National d'Art Moderne, Europe's largest museum dedicated to modern art. An open plaza, the Place Georges Pompidou, fronts the building. The structure, recognized for its remarkable contemporary architecture, will undergo major renovation from September 2025 through 2030.
