Completed in June 1997, CITIC Plaza is an 80-storey office skyscraper in Guangzhou's Tianhe District designed by DLN Architects. Standing 390.2 metres tall with two antenna-like spires crowning its glass façade, it was the tallest concrete building in the world until the completion of Trump Tower Chicago, and held the distinction of being China's tallest structure at the time of its completion. Part of a larger complex that includes two 38-storey residential buildings, the tower sits in the expanding Tianhe District near major transportation infrastructure, including railways serving Guangzhou-Shenzhen and Guangzhou-Hong Kong routes and a new metro station. Its prominence is reinforced by its proximity to the Tianhe Sports Center, which hosted events during the 2010 Asian Games, and its alignment with other significant Guangzhou developments. As of 2025, it ranks among the world's 45 tallest buildings, standing as a symbol of Guangzhou's economic growth and urban expansion.
