City Hall, located in the London Borough of Newham in east London, serves as the headquarters of the Greater London Authority and replaced the previous City Hall in Southwark in 2022. Originally opened in 2012 as The Crystal, an exhibition centre for sustainable architecture, the neo-futurist building was constructed and opened by Siemens and became the first in the world to achieve the highest sustainability certifications under both LEED and BREEAM standards. The Greater London Authority acquired the structure in 2019 as part of the London Docklands redevelopment initiative. Positioned adjacent to the redeveloped Royal Victoria Dock in Canning Town, the building enjoys excellent transport connectivity, with the northern terminus of the London cable car, Royal Victoria station, the Docklands Light Railway, Custom House station on the Elizabeth line, and London City Airport all within convenient distance.
