The Clifton Merriman Post Office Building, located at 770 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge's Central Square, is a 1933 post office blending Streamline Moderne and Neoclassical architectural styles. Originally designated "U.S. Post Office-Central Square" when added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, the building was officially renamed in 1992 by act of Congress to honor Clifton Merriman, an African-American World War I veteran who served as assistant superintendent of Cambridge's main Post Office.
