The Dorset Garden Theatre, built in 1671 in the City of London and designed by Christopher Wren, served as the fourth home of the Duke's Company, one of two patent theatre companies operating in Restoration London. Originally known as the Duke of York's Theatre, it was renamed the Queen's Theatre in 1685 following the accession of James II, and retained that name through the reign of William III and Mary II. After the Duke's Company merged into the United Company in 1682, the theatre continued in use until its demolition in 1709.
