The E.R. Hays House is a 2½-story brick residence built in 1895 in Knoxville, Iowa, for E.R. Hays, a local lawyer who briefly served in the United States House of Representatives. Designed by the Des Moines architectural firm Foster & Liebbe, the house blends Late Victorian and Italianate styles—Italianate massing forms the structure's primary character, while Victorian eclecticism appears in the ornamental porch and trimwork. Hays died within a year of the house's completion, and his family occupied it until 1935, when it was converted to the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
