The East London Mosque, built in 1910 in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets between Whitechapel and Aldgate East, stands as one of the largest mosques in Western Europe. Designed in Islamic architectural style, the mosque operates as part of a larger complex that includes the adjoining London Muslim Centre and Maryam Centre, together accommodating more than 7,000 worshippers for congregational prayers. It holds historical significance as one of the first mosques in the United Kingdom permitted to use loudspeakers to broadcast the adhan.
