The Edwin C. Johnson House, a 2½-story wood-frame residence at the corner of Weston and Caldwell Streets in Waltham, Massachusetts, was built around 1847–53 as a transitional work between Greek Revival and Italianate styles. Its massing and centered entrance reflect Italianate conventions, while Greek Revival details—corner pilasters, an entry surround with sidelights and transom windows, and a dentillated pediment—testify to the lingering influence of earlier classicism. Now well preserved, the house was recognized as a historic landmark when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
