The Eski Imaret Mosque in Istanbul is a Byzantine church built in 1001, traditionally identified as part of the Monastery of Christ Pantepoptes ("Christ the all-seeing"). Constructed of brick in the characteristic middle Byzantine style, it represents the only documented intact 11th-century church surviving in the city. Following the Ottoman conquest, the building was converted into a mosque, merging its Byzantine origins with Ottoman religious use. Despite its historical significance as a key monument of middle Byzantine architecture, it remains among the least studied buildings in Istanbul.
