The Faculty of Law at the University of Cambridge is Britain's leading law school, tracing its origins to the thirteenth century and home to the world's oldest law professorship, the Regius Professorship of Civil Law, established by Henry VIII in 1540. Designed in high-tech architecture, the faculty encompasses the Institute of Criminology and eleven research centres, among them the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, a globally preeminent institution in its field. The faculty maintains a teaching staff of 31 professors, six readers, and over 70 additional instructors, serving approximately 700 undergraduate and 250 postgraduate students. It also houses the Cambridge University Law Society, the largest student-run law society in the United Kingdom.
