The Fatih Mosque in the Ortahisar district of Trabzon, Turkey, is a Byzantine structure originally built in the 10th or 11th century as the Panagia Chrysokephalos Church, where it served both as the catholicon for the see of Trebizond and as a monastic church. Following the Ottoman conquest of the city in 1461, the building was converted into a mosque. The structure retains its Byzantine architectural character and is notable for displaying some of the finest examples of Ottoman calligraphy and writing arts.
