Located in Istanbul's Fatih district, Kalenderhane Mosque is a former Byzantine church converted to a mosque following the Ottoman conquest. Originally dedicated with high probability to the Theotokos Kyriotissa, the structure exemplifies the rare Byzantine domed Greek cross plan. The building's transformation from Christian to Islamic use reflects the architectural and religious transitions of Ottoman Istanbul, and it remains a cultural property of protected status, preserving both its Byzantine and Ottoman architectural heritage.
