Flamingo Las Vegas is an Art Deco casino hotel located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, and the oldest continuously operating resort on the Strip. Originally proposed by Billy Wilkerson in 1945, the property was taken over by mobster Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, who opened the casino on December 26, 1946, followed by a three-story hotel in March 1947. Construction costs ballooned from $1 million to $6 million under Siegel's management before his murder in June 1947. Hilton Hotels acquired the resort in the early 1970s and renamed it the Flamingo Hilton, overseeing major expansions including a 28-story hotel tower completed in 1978 and subsequent additions through 1995. The original three-story structure was demolished in 1993, replaced partly by a 15-acre pool area with flamingo habitat. The resort now contains a 72,299-square-foot casino, 3,460 rooms, and has hosted extended entertainment residencies, including an 11-year run by Donny and Marie Osmond ending in 2019.
