The Fontainebleau Las Vegas is a luxury resort and casino on the Las Vegas Strip, designed by Carlos Zapata Studio and completed in December 2023. Rising 67 stories and standing 224 meters tall, it became Nevada's tallest occupied building. Built on the 24.5-acre site of the former El Rancho and Algiers hotels, the $3.7 billion project features a 173,000-square-foot casino and 3,644 hotel rooms. The development's path to completion was notably circuitous: construction began in 2007, halted during the 2009 financial crisis and subsequent bankruptcy, passed through multiple owners including Carl Icahn and the Witkoff Group, and experienced another pause during the COVID-19 pandemic before Jeff Soffer's Fontainebleau Development resumed work in 2021 and brought it to completion.
