The MGM Grand Las Vegas is a hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Clark County, Nevada, developed by Kirk Kerkorian through MGM Grand, Inc. and opened on December 18, 1993. With more than 5,000 rooms, it was the largest hotel in the world when it opened, and its 171,500 sq ft casino was the world's largest at that time. Its dominant theme was the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, though that theming was removed during a renovation that began in 1996.
