Frangokastello is a castle fortress built in 1371 on the south coast of Crete, Greece, located about 12 kilometers east of Chora Sfakion within Chania prefecture. Situated on an extensive, gently shelving sandy beach, the site encompasses both the castle structure and a scattered settlement that has formed the basis of modest tourism in recent years. Though tourist accommodation has developed across the surrounding plain, the area's relative remoteness has limited major expansion. The castle survives today as an archaeological site.
