Frederik's Church, popularly known as The Marble Church, stands as the focal point of Copenhagen's Frederiksstaden district, positioned due west of Amalienborg Palace. Begun in 1749 and designed by Nicolai Eigtved and Ferdinand Meldahl, the building exemplifies Baroque and Rococo architecture. Serving as an Evangelical Lutheran church, it takes its familiar name from the marble that features prominently in its rococo design.
