Oscar Fredrik Church in Olivedal, Gothenburg, is a Neo-Gothic brick structure designed by architect Helgo Zettervall and erected in the 1890s, opening on Easter Sunday, 2 April 1893. Rising 70 metres, its spire makes it Gothenburg's tallest church building. Built atop Dahlin's mountain, named after merchant Samuel Dahlin, the church takes its name from King Oscar II, who visited in 1898 and signed its guestbook. Unlike the Nordic Gothic tradition, Zettervall drew inspiration from the grand cathedrals of continental Europe. The interior features distinctive lush greenish tones and originally accommodated 1,685 worshippers, with a large organ at one end. The church has undergone four major restorations—in 1915, 1940, 1974, and most recently in 2020, when its slate roof was replaced and the interior comprehensively cleaned and renewed.
