Freudenstein Castle in Freiberg, Saxony, originated in 1400 and evolved into a Renaissance-era stately home whose history is intertwined with the House of Wettin dynasty. Situated on the Schloßplatz at the edge of Freiberg's town centre, the castle comprises four wings—the Langes Haus, Neues Haus, Kirchenflügel, and Großer Turm, along with the Schmales Haus—the result of successive conversions over the centuries. Now designated a heritage monument in Saxony, the castle stands as a significant example of Renaissance architecture in the region.
