Isenburg Castle in Offenbach am Main is a Renaissance-style castle built in the 16th century by the House of Isenburg. Art historians regard it as an important Renaissance building north of the Alps, distinguished by its contrasting facades: the south side facing the city displays a relaxed Renaissance design with arcades flanked by stair towers, while the north side overlooking the Main River retains a fortified character incorporating elements of an earlier structure. Though originally conceived as a four-winged complex, the full construction plan was never realized. Today the castle holds protected status as a Kulturdenkmal.
