Schloss Ilsenburg, a Neo-Romanesque château in the Harz town of Ilsenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, was constructed from 1860 onward on the western and northern flanks of the medieval Ilsenburg Abbey. Built during the second half of the nineteenth century, this stately home served as the residence of the princes of Stolberg-Wernigerode until 1945. The structure now stands as a Kulturdenkmal and has been owned by the Ilsenburg Abbey Foundation since 2005. Plans call for its future use as an art and cultural center with guest accommodation and public restaurant, operating in concert with the surviving medieval monastery cloisters.
