Located in Cornwall on Hudson, New York, the Gatehouse on Deerhill Road is a one-and-a-half-story stucco building in the Norman style, distinguished by a tiled roof and three-story tower with balcony. Originally conceived as the entrance to a grand estate mansion that was never constructed, the gatehouse stood vacant until the Pagenstecher family purchased the property in the 1920s and built a smaller residence nearby. When that house was demolished in 1966, two nieces of the Pagenstechers made the gatehouse their home. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, it is recognized as a rare example of a castellated gatehouse in the Hudson Highlands, with many of its Norman-style interior appointments preserved.
