The George E. Purple House, located at 338 Sunset Ave. in LaGrange, Illinois, is an Italian Renaissance Revival residence designed by architect William G. Carnegie and completed in 1928. Commissioned by George E. Purple, founder of the Flexible Steel Lacing Company, the house exemplifies the style through distinctive features including a green tile hipped roof, large first-floor windows with overhanging eaves, decorative brackets, bas-relief urns above the windows, and brick quoins at the corners. Purple occupied the house until his death in 1930; his family remained there until 1944. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
