The Haus für Mozart is a 1,500-seat theatre in Salzburg, Austria, designed by architect Clemens Holzmeister. Established in 1925 through the conversion of horse stables, it became the Salzburg Festival's first dedicated performance space, initially serving as a venue for the mystery plays central to the festival's early programming. Originally named the Festspielhaus, it underwent three rebuildings before the 1960 opening of the larger Neues Festspielhaus prompted a succession of name changes—first to the Altes Festspielhaus, then to the Kleines Festspielhaus in 1963 to eliminate visitor confusion. After a final major reconstruction, the theatre reopened in 2006 under its current name, now functioning as the festival's principal venue for Mozart and Rossini operas as well as Baroque stageworks.
