The Headquarters Building of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, located in Sevier County, Tennessee, was constructed in 1940 as an administrative center for the park. Designed by architect Charles I. Barber, the structure exemplifies the National Park Service rustic architectural style, a design philosophy that emphasized harmonizing buildings with their natural surroundings through the use of native materials and forms that echoed local vernacular traditions. The building served as the operational hub for the park's management and administration.
