The Hemenway Furniture Co. Building, a five-story brown brick commercial structure completed in 1918, stands in the central business district of Alexandria, Louisiana. Designed in the Chicago School tradition, it exemplifies a late, attenuated interpretation of the Chicago Style skyscraper, distinguished by terra cotta trim adorning its second-story cornice, the upper entablature, and the capitals of its pilasters—though it notably lacks the pronounced cornice typical of the style. Located at 300 Jackson Street, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and later served as home to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Louisiana.
