The Internationales Congress Centrum Berlin, located in the Westend locality of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, is one of Germany's largest conference centres. Designed by architects Ralf Schüler and Ursulina Schüler-Witte and completed in 1979, the structure exemplifies high-tech architecture with a height of 40 metres. Since its opening, the venue has hosted conventions, theatrical productions, and concerts. Designated as an architectural heritage monument, the ICC Berlin has nevertheless faced significant challenges: it was closed in April 2014 for asbestos removal and has remained largely shuttered since, though it saw temporary use in October 2021 for the art project The Sun Machine Is Coming Down during the Berliner Festspiele.
