Jefferson Elementary School in Creston, Iowa is a Streamline Moderne building erected in 1937 to replace an overcrowded 1880s structure on the same site. Designed by the Des Moines firm Dougher, Rich & Woodburn and constructed by Hogeson Construction with Public Works Administration funding at a cost of $74,629, the two-story brick edifice features a concrete foundation and flat roof. Its multi-colored light brown brick, laid in common bond and accented with limestone beltcourses and copings, exemplifies the streamlined aesthetic characteristic of Depression-era institutional architecture. The school was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002 and closed in 2006.
