The John C. Rice House is a two-story Queen Anne style residence built in 1896 in Caldwell, Idaho, originally located in the Washington Heights neighborhood before being relocated to 2121 College Avenue. The house exemplifies the style through its octagonal turret anchoring the south end of a wraparound porch, gable roof, and originally distinctive lava rock foundation. In 1904, a cement sidewalk was constructed connecting the property to downtown Caldwell, spanning approximately sixteen blocks. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, the house was substantially altered and moved after that designation, precluding its inclusion in the Steunenberg Residential Historic District established in 2002.
