Located in New Bern, North Carolina, the John Wright Stanly House is a two-story Georgian frame dwelling designed by architect John Hawks and built around 1779. The five-bay central hall plan structure features a hipped roof with a balustrade-topped deck, exemplifying refined late colonial domestic architecture. Originally home to Revolutionary War veteran John Wright Stanly, the house served as a public library from 1935 to 1965. Relocated twice—finally reaching its present site in 1965—it was subsequently restored as part of the Tryon Palace complex. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
