Johnie's Broiler is a Googie-style restaurant in Downey, California, originally opened in 1958 by Harvey Ortner, a former partner in the Clock Broiler chain. The building's distinctive 1950s design made it a frequent location for films and television productions. Renamed Johnie's Broiler in 1968, it closed in 2001 and subsequently housed a used car dealership. The structure was largely demolished illegally in 2007, but was reconstructed in 2009 with the assistance of preservationists and reopened as Bob's Big Boy Broiler, faithfully maintaining the original building's aesthetic and design.
