King Faisal's Gate is one of the historic gates set into Jerusalem's Old City Walls, built in 1206 as part of the medieval fortifications surrounding the sacred city. Standing 4 meters high, it exemplifies Islamic architectural traditions of the Ayyubid period, when these defensive structures were constructed or substantially reinforced. The gate served as a controlled passage through the imposing stone walls that have long defined the Old City's boundaries.
